Ambassador of Finland meets Governor of Lagos State

Ambassador Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury met with the Executive Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode in Lagos on Monday 5 October 2015.

The Ambassador invited the Governor to the 'Finland Takes Care!' business event on the theme of Health and Wellbeing that the Embassy is organizing in Lagos on 3 November 2015. She explained about the achievements and expertise of Finland in the area of health, as well as elaborating on the event, which is one of the highlights of Finland's activities in Nigeria this year. The Ambassador told the Governor that promoting trade and economic relations are at the heart of the Embassy's activities, and recognized that in this respect Lagos clearly has a very central role.

The Ambassador also referred to the highly ranked Finnish education system, and some of the reasons for achieving these results, as well as the importance placed on gender equality in Finland. She also briefed the Governor about the 'Global Health Security Agenda' initiative that Finland is currently chairing.  

The Ambassador was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Finland Dr. Kingsley Akinroye, Finland Trade Commissioner in Lagos Mr. Olu Raheem and Mr. Abiodun Okuyelu.
